Michael O. Snyder

I am a photographer and filmmaker who uses my combined knowledge of visual storytelling and conservation to create narratives that drive social impact. Through my production company, Interdependent Pictures, I have directed films in the Arctic, the Amazon, the Himalaya, and East Africa. My photojournalism work has been featured by outlets such as National Geographic, The Guardian, and The Washington Post. I am a Portrait of Humanity Award Winner, a Society of Environmental Journalists Member, a Bertha Investigative Journalism Fellow, a Pulitzer Grantee, and a recent delegate to the United Nations Climate Conference. I hold an MSc in Environmental Sustainability from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland and a BSc in Geology from Dickinson College, Pennsylvania. I live in the shadow of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Central Virginia where I am a resident artist at the McGuffey Art Center.
